Post-CELTA: Keep in Shape

  • Do you miss the CELTA?
  • Are you working so much that you don’t have time to reflect on your teaching?
  • Do you fear you may be “getting into bad habits”?
  • Are you working in an environment where you are observed rarely or not at all? Perhaps you are observed but don’t like the experience much!
  • Would you like to develop your teaching but don’t feel ready to commit to a course such as DELTA?If you answered “yes” to any of the above, then maybe you are not developing as much as you could be. This is not ideal for you or for your students . .

Don’t worry: we can help you keep in shape or . . . get back into shape!

We offer you the possibility of being observed by an experienced CELTA or DELTA tutor and receiving detailed feedback on your lesson and your plan, plus suggestions for further reading where appropriate. Unlike the CELTA or the DELTA, you aren’t being formally assessed, just coached. The comments you receive are purely for developmental purposes. The observed lesson needs to be with one of your classes, and you will need to video record it using a digital camera. The lesson should be between 60 and 90 minutes. The advantages of this approach are that you are working with familiar students and can schedule the observation to suit your needs and time. Also, you can watch the lesson and refer back to it and the feedback whenever you like.
