DELTA Module Two:

Developing Professional Practice

Content. This module looks at the theory and practice of teaching  and a range of factors which affect teaching and learning. Candidates will broaden their range of teaching and learning strategies and develop as classroom practitioners who are able to respond to learners’ needs.   Module aims are to:

1. develop candidates’ awareness of the ways that different circumstances affect the learning and teaching of English, and factors affecting the individual’s ability to learn
2. develop understanding of the different roles of teachers and the principles underpinning them in the context of English language teaching
3. develop the skills to plan lessons for different learning abilities
4. develop the knowledge and skills to support learners in a range of contexts
5. develop candidates’ understanding of teaching
6. develop candidates’ beliefs about teaching and help them to evaluate their own performance and to improve as a teacher
7. broaden candidates’ understanding of teaching as a professional practice
8. develop expertise in spoken and written communication within their professional roles.

Assessment. Module Two is assessed via a portfolio of coursework, including  observed lessons, background written assignments, and an externally-assessed lesson observation.

Our Courses. Attendance on a course is compulsory in order to ontain DELTA Module Two. Our courses  not only cover the Module Two learning units, but  include study skills for background assignments, plus access to our teaching and reference resources. Find out more about our DELTA courses here.
