CELTA

What’s the difference between TEFL and CELTA?

Many people ask this question! In a nutshell, CELTA is the best and most widely recognised “TEFL certificate” on the market. “TEFL” stands for Teaching English as a Foreign Language. TEFL is the most common name used to describe the English Language Teaching (ELT) industry, so if you put TEFL and Certificate together, you might think you’re looking at a serious qualification. Many “course providers” play on this misunderstanding. Be very careful of TEFL certificates or TEFL courses! There are so many out there, some very cheap, many online or done over a weekend. If you’re interested in teaching seriously and / or working for a reputable employer, do the CELTA. It may cost a little more, but it’s a good investment.
